The Governance Practicum
Assemble a complete operational handbook and evaluate its weaknesses.
Core knowledge
A well-written charter does not guarantee responsible leadership unless it is usable in a real situation. The final governance practicum should connect mission, membership rules, financial records, safety reporting, minutes, digital privacy and succession into one consistent handbook. Each section must identify who acts and what evidence is retained.
Historical, ethical and practical context
Review the handbook against realistic scenarios: an unavailable treasurer, a disputed membership decision, an event cancellation, a financial complaint and a leader's resignation. The aim is to find gaps before people rely on the system. Avoid claiming compliance with laws that have not been verified for the actual jurisdiction.
Worked situation
A fictional coven plans to open public study classes. The student creates a governance packet for that activity but identifies separate, tradition-specific areas that a public academy should not regulate.
A responsible method
- Write a governance manual with clear roles and a table of responsibilities.
- Include sample budgets, minutes, grievance and privacy policies.
- Test three fictional scenarios and revise the procedures.
- Prepare a source list for legal questions requiring local verification.
Consider the limitations
This lesson teaches transferable educational or community skills. It does not confer an initiatory degree, substitute for a qualified mentor, or grant legal, clinical or spiritual authority over another person. Apply the concepts within your own tradition's boundaries, with consent, factual attribution and care.
Put it into perspective
Submit a comprehensive charter and operations handbook as part of the Level III capstone.
Evidence of learning: Keep the completed work in your private study portfolio. Explain the source of claims and identify any limitation or unanswered question before requesting feedback.
Research and compare these sources. They describe different perspectives and must not be mistaken for a single universal Wiccan rule.
Review your understanding
Choose one answer per question. Feedback explains why each answer is correct.
