SACRED ARTS & LITURGY / LESSON 8

Capstone: Produce an Original Public Ritual Arts Portfolio

Compile sourced, accessible and truly original work.

Core knowledge

A serious portfolio should show how a student researched context, developed a coherent concept, created original language and imagery, and considered the people who will use the work. It should include the rights status of any supporting material and clear acknowledgement of influences. Artistic skill is not measured by imitating private liturgy or by creating the most elaborate event possible.

Historical and ethical context

The capstone may demonstrate strong educational preparation, but it cannot certify priesthood, confer initiation or guarantee public leadership competence. A qualified reviewer should provide written comments on originality, clarity, inclusivity, and evidence. The student should be able to revise after feedback.

Worked example

A final project includes a copied song and an uncredited photograph. The reviewer requests permission or replacement, an original alternative, and more explicit notes about historical sources before evaluating the creative content.

Apply what you learned

  1. Write an original ceremony script of at least 600 words.
  2. Create an original poem, illustration or symbolic explanatory diagram.
  3. Provide accessible alternatives and a consent statement.
  4. Add a source-and-rights table for every outside influence.

Limits and responsibility

This is public educational preparation. It is not initiatory training conferred by a lineage, a professional credential, or a guarantee of supernatural or clinical outcomes. Use sources accurately, obtain consent and refer specialized matters to qualified people.

YOUR STUDY PRACTICE

Put it into perspective

Assemble a multi-part portfolio with your script, art, an annotated bibliography, a copyright and permission checklist, an accessibility plan, and a 500-word reflection on how you revised the work.
