Draft a Public Education Lesson

A source-aware learning challenge with a practical assignment and a private reflection space.

What to understand

A public history lesson has different goals from a devotional ceremony. It should state what learners will be able to explain, provide readings that can be examined, acknowledge competing interpretations, and use an assessment that measures understanding rather than religious agreement. Teaching is also a responsibility to people with varied backgrounds and levels of prior knowledge. Avoid presenting an instructor's personal lineage or theology as a rule for every audience.

Your practical assignment

Prepare a 30-minute lesson titled 'What Modern Wicca Is and Is Not.' Include three learning objectives, two sourced historical claims, a five-minute activity, two knowledge-check questions, and an accessibility alternative.

RESEARCH LEAD

Use this resource for context, and compare sources where possible. It is not an endorsement of all claims made in related traditions.

Reflection question

How would you test that students learned the history without requiring them to accept a spiritual belief?
