Build Your Ethical Statement

A source-aware learning challenge with a practical assignment and a private reflection space.

What to understand

The Wiccan Rede is influential but does not settle every ethical question or bind every practitioner. Responsible choices must consider informed consent, foreseeable consequences, dignity, privacy, and law. The claims made about spiritual power should never override ordinary safety precautions or professional care. Leadership carries additional responsibility: people may give more weight to an elder's words than they intended, making transparency important. A useful personal ethic is something you can explain, test against a difficult scenario, and revise if you discover harm you failed to consider.

Your practical assignment

Write a one-page ethics statement with five commitments, including consent, historical honesty, boundaries, environmental care, and willingness to correct mistakes. Test your statement against a case involving publication of someone else's private photograph.

RESEARCH LEAD

Use this resource for context, and compare sources where possible. It is not an endorsement of all claims made in related traditions.
