A Personal Samhain Remembrance

A private, adaptable remembrance observance that respects grief and personal boundaries.

Meaning and context

Samhain is associated with remembrance in many modern Wiccan traditions. Historical Irish seasonal customs and modern Wiccan practices are related through interpretation but should not all be described as identical ancient rites.

What you'll need

A safe space, notebook, and optional photo or remembrance object you have permission to use.

A suggested sequence

  1. Choose whether remembering someone now feels appropriate; you may skip the exercise.
  2. Place one meaningful object on a clean surface, or simply write a name privately.
  3. Write a sentence about what the person or memory means to you.
  4. Allow quiet time without forcing yourself to feel a particular emotion.
  5. End with a gentle activity that helps you transition back to the day.

Reflect afterward

What do I want to preserve about this person or experience?

✧

Safety and boundaries: Memories can bring up distress. Stop whenever you wish and seek personal support if needed. Do not disclose anyone's story publicly without permission.
